Poem-A-Day Challenge, Catch-Up #5

So behind. The assignment here: "write a poem about something before your time." The result: I'm ambivalent, as usual.

I want to write the debut performance of Music for Amplified Toy Pianos,
joy and head for scattered bits and barn animals. His audience sweats,
can't believing they dressed so starched stiff for this. Irritable coughs,
nervous echoes, sweat and resentment become part of the music. Instead

I hang flesh on the skeleton of a family story
about she who hanged herself for love.
And her father, lamp ruffling the mist, casting
dull copper green on her skin.
